So i have come up with this little idea where i will share some interesting things i have seen around the web, i'll try to do a few a post once a week, i am hoping it kind of works as a word of mouth thing and get the word out about things that is going on on places that maybe you have looked over this week, feel free to join in, leave a link in the comments if you choose too!
1- Book'd out Before and After over at Book'd out Shelley-Rae shares her opinion on prologues and epilogues and also asks us to share out opinion in her comments, go over and check what my self and other readers had to say.
2- In My Mailbox & Why I'm not having one Alright so i do realize i am a little bit behind on this issue and i am not going to get in to it, i can get views on my blog with out dipping in to the controversy of un-creative bloggers who bring a bad name to the rest of the bookish people. Over at Nyx Book Reviews she posted about IMM the popular weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren, Like Many Nyx is choosing to boycott the Meme. At first i was like why should we suffer? TSS did something wrong but IMM and DAC brings a curtain amount of traffic to our blog, which obviously we would be DEAD with out, I was stating this on Twitter when Nyx told me about this post in her blog that links to some new meme's started in place of IMM, so stop over and check them out.

It’s all about birthdays. Well this is my best birthday memory of all time <3
Spent many years and many nights dancing, drinking and having a blast. I decided this time I wanted to do something totally awesome , and out of the ordinary after all life is about experiencing everything you can. I decided on a Rock climbing birthday bash. Needless to say I was the only girl interested out of all the girls , so I found myself among all my hubby's friends , but when it comes down to it , they are my friends too.

The night of my birthday we could of course not go down in silence we had to drink it up and celebrate the big 30! BIG mistake. A night of drinking and laughing we went down at 4am.
6am packed and ready to rock climb!!!! With little sleep, overtired and a huge headache- what lay ahead for us?
So rock climbing I am picturing a huge wall, ropes, and climb. Ha was I mistaken. First of all Robert one of our best friends obviously not attended map reading classes got us lost on the way there. We arrived an hour late. Hot, hung over and nauseous was the least of our problems. We spent the first hour climbing up the damn mountain; almost fainting as we had drank all night and had nothing to eat. Half way up the mountain the 8 of us and our two guides decided it best to take a breather before we all pass out. Robert whips up his phone and stars Facebooking the experience - honestly Robert!
Our first wall was a ten meter stretch UP. I being the lady , did not at the time own a good pair of sneakers only my hip hop flats. LOL I had to climb barefoot the rest of the day for hip hop flats don’t do well when climbing up a steep rock-wall.
Once our basic climb and training on rope techniques had been acquired we took lunch. Oh and was that divine. So being with a group that consisted of only guys -me and Lee the guide (also female) the guys got - well like guys get, funny, and sarcastic and totally vulgar. But man were they funny. We laughed so much the rest of the climb up the mountain I could hardly stand it. Once we reached the big climb (25 meters) doesn’t sound that bad, trust me being at the highest peak of the mountain and then have to climb a steep cliff of 25 meters with nothing but a thin rope tied around your waist... I had regretted my adventurous spirit. I got only to about 15 meters and froze! Now to get back down you have to lean your back totally over the ledge backwards. Aaarg!! Luckily I made it, but James's front tooth didn’t. He too panicked when he looked down the rock-face and snapped his head back and tried to pull a cliffhanger with his front teeth. Bahahahhahaha.
The stroll back down the mountain was just as fabulous filled with more rotten men jokes. I had never had a better time in all my existence. Once down the mountain we all took a dip in our clothes. The adventure does not end there! Got into our cars, exhausted and still buzzed on excitement when an old farmer blocked the road with his big ugly 4x4. He claimed it was his mountain and we had no right to climb it. Well there we were, all of us, the farmer and his nasty wife shouting at each other. As we had booked with a club on their property they had no idea what the hell was going on. So farmer, man- boobs and all claimed he was an awesome climber and we should climb with him. Saved by the police we were! Having to go climb a mountain with a sweaty ugly farmer was not on my to do list any time soon. Police had to remove them from our path and we headed home. Adventure 101 done
Today i am interviewing the Amazing carlyle Labuschagne who will be part of the 2012 elite to release her first novel, check out this trailer, to learn about how awesome, this series is going to be
Hello Carlyle, how are you today?
Hi Monique IM really great thanks you for asking.
Sunshine in SA?
90% of the time all year round!
Tell us about the upcoming novel, and the writing process?
I’d love to. The first book in The Broken Series is entitled THE BROKEN DESTINY. The Broken Destiny is very much a mixture of many genre’s, Sci-Fi, paranormal romance, fiction, and fantasy aimed at readers from the age of 14 up. It is set on a planet called Poseidon. Ava is my main character who needs to deal with many conflicts about her kind, overcome some nasty fall backs The Change will inflict on her. Her Destiny is to reveal her kind for who they are, and not for what they have been made out to be, but that is just the beginning. She carries a secret weapon within in soul, within her bloodline..... My novel will be released Early 2012.
I started writing this novel in 2009, took a year off to finish my diploma in novel writing as I realized I needed some guidance. I rewrote the MS in four weeks last year. As any Author will tell you, this is a very emotional journey, I write my heart out. Inspiration comes from everywhere around me, from my past experiences and of course my imagination. One I need some good music, two I need art and three give me a computer and the words and plot come spilling out.
I read in an interview you did elsewhere that you learnt English to write your novel, what was this experience like?
LOL. Well I am an Afrikaans South African, but I speak and read English fluently. The trouble is I never studied English lit at all. I basically had to overcome, the formal English language, like use of tenses, grammar, phrases act. So the more I read, the more I write and the editing process I am one step closer to my goals as an English writer. Trust me when I say I am such a newbie to this and have a very long way to still go before I consider myself a professional writer. I still struggle with my spelling.
Tell us about your African hunt, how did this idea come about?
Well my African hunt was inspired by my twitter friends, like you. I felt I needed to share My Africa with all of you. So I took to the African Markets to hunt for artists and art to collect in my giveaway thought my campaigned and will also be giving away some pieces to my readers purchasing my novel. I took my kids along, we interviews some artists, learnt about the making of the pieces. It was truly an amazing journey, I knew that our art was something magical but to really go and find out about the process, the materials used, it is magic.
I love to swim. Painting, art, reading. Hiking. Listening to music. I have to be honest a lot of that besides the swimming has taken a back seat to my writing, which has pretty much become a compulsion.
Who are three people you would invite to diner, dead or alive and where would you have dinner?
I would like to have dinner on a ship, or in the mountains overlooking the forest.
Bella from Twilight.
Florence from Florence and the machine
Princess Diana.
If I asked you to right now, could you write a small story about Zebras?
Zomvie was the smallest of his siblings; he was also the most determined little Zebra of his herd. He did not like to bunch up in the herd like the others, he strived to run into the open golden grass lands until he could no longer see where the land met the Earth, and all he could see was a huge body of water, the sun's shimmer reflecting back its radiance like a giant golden orb. The day he met Sahara the cub lion, his life changed forever.......
How do you get your muse?
I am very much a moment’s girl. Things come at any time, mostly when listening to music, also when I swim things just come to me, like phrases and ideas. The muse is strong within me and she keeps on coming really, I am very lucky.
Do you have advice for budding authors?
Yes, keep writing, keep dreaming. Your imagination is your oyster. Never give up on your dream, you want it, you make it happen.
What is your daily schedule like?
My day starts with dropping the kids off at school. I then go to work, I am a Marketing consultant so I’m on the road, me and the road and the music. Picking the kids up, go home, supper for the family, homework, bath time, bed time. I read for a while, sleep for two to three hours. My writing takes place between 00h00 and 05h00.
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
Live your life every day; you make your own destiny, place your troubles with your creator.
